YAY! I can finally start decorating for Easter!!!

Easter is pretty early this year with it falling right at the first of the month. So I thought now would be a great time to start decorating! Here are a few things I have put out so far...

This is a glass vase that I have had forever and I was not sure what I wanted to do with it. So I decided to add a little candle stick to the bottom and make a little bird nest inside. With a few eggs it turned out so cute!

This is a beautiful wreath that I found this year at Macy's ! It was a little pricey (around 17.00) But I HAD to have it ! So CUTE!

I got this little tree and eggs from the dollar store! Cute and CHEAP!

I got these bunnies from the dollar store a couple years ago and this little basket I got at the DI. I added some dirt and grass seed and well.. you can see how cute it turned out. I added these colorful eggs that I also got at the Dollar Store. LOVE THE DI AND DOLLAR STORE!!!

So that's all I have done for now, but I am sure there is more to come =-)

Happy Birthday Relief Society!

So Tuesday night was our wards Relief Society Meeting, I am on the Relief Society board for activities so I decided to help out with the decorations. And we had a service auction so I decided to auction off my decorations. I took some pictures before the the meeting started. Here they are...

The candles are 4x4 pieces of wood cut 9 inches long. I painted them cream and added some jute around the base. Then I found the Relief Society logo online and cut it out on my cricut. They turned out so cute!

I also made these little square blocks.

I found some old pictures of Relief Society women, modge podge them on the wood and they went great with the candles.

So St. Patrick's Day is here again, wow how fast time goes. This is my second St. Paddy's without my sweet Irish Grandpa (who I was so close to). So I had to make his most favorite meal. Corn beef, Cabbage and his special recipe for bread pudding (from his Momma, who I am told was a full blooded Irish woman haha) anyways the first picture is the corn beef cooking in the pot. It has to boil for about 4 hours..

This next picture is the yummy bread pudding after it is all done. SO GOOD!

Now last year was my first time making this at my own house and I was pretty scared, so my Grandma told me that she would be happy to come over and do it for me and let me watch. But this year I really wanted to try and do it on my own so... She still came over haha, but I did it while she watched and made sure I didn't totally goof it up! I must say that it was not as hard as I thought it was going to be =-)

This is the pudding in a big pot getting ready to boil. It is wrapped up in a sheet, yes sheet! I guess a cheese cloth is not strong enough to hold it so we tore up an old sheet and made a square. ( We washed it really good first lol)

Here is my special Grandma helping me! =-) I am so lucky to have her. The pudding has to boil for about two hours. It has bread, cinnamon, raisins, sugar, butter and flour in it. It is soooo GOOD! I guess when my Grandpa (who I forgot to mention was born in Newfoundland) was growing up there was no candy and when his Momma would make this for them it was a real treat! They loved this and it was like candy to them. He taught my Grandma how to make it and told her that you can never add to many raisins or cinnamon!







Here is the whole entire meal. (like my Halloween plate =-) ) Corn beef, cabbage, carrots and whole potatoes. This is the way Grandpa liked it. Miss him.. Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Till next year...

I have been very very busy these past few days getting all of my St.Paddy's Day stuff done. (I want to start working on Spring and Easter stuff) So here are a few pics of what I have done... I actually made this last year but wanted to show everyone. So easy and cute for the front door.

Okay, all this is, is so 2X4's cut up (and yes I cut them myself, hubby was not home and I think I am finally overcoming my terrible fear of the saw haha) Some cute paper from the scrap booking store. And of course the letters that I cut from my Cricut using SCAL software. LOVE THIS!

I bought this frame from the dollar store, painted it. cut out some vinyl added some ribbon and there you have it!

2X4, green paint, paper and vinyl! small cute touch to my shelf.

Love these! small wood blocks I cut and added some paint, paper and a cute Irish saying! So EASY AND CUTE!!!

March 17th

I will be having my corn beef and cabbage !

Visiting Teaching Message March 2010

So the first of the month is here again! Visiting Teaching time. So I have looked at a few different ideas online and I really could not find anything that I liked so... I thought and I thought about it and because the message is about scripture study I thought that it would be a good idea to make a little book that had some quotes and scriptures in it. So take a look and tell me what ya think.

More DI Treasures

Okay so this first one is a beautiful square glass container that I found for a dollar at my favorite store =-) . I did not know what I wanted it for but I was sure I could come up with something... So I added some rocks in the bottom and then a little dirt, I looked everywhere (at Wal Mart) for some wheat grass and could not find any soooo I thought well grass seed will work! I added some grass seeds and watered it. It only took about one week to get this high!!! It grew so fast! But I still thought it needed something, so I got out my cricut and cut out some white vinyl! Turned out so cute! I was going to use this for my Easter decor but I thought it looked so cute with my green St. Paddy's day decorations! And I just love looking at it thinking about summer time!
These next two items I also got at the DI for under a dollar, the green rocks I got at Wal Mart on sale! I added some ribbon and LOVE the way it turned out!
So this one is easy, I bought this plate for a buck modge podged on the green shamrock (that I cut out with my cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot) . Then added the black vinyl words! SUPER EASY and SUPER CUTE!
